Richard Fearless presents Metal Box, broadcast from his shipping container studio situated on the peninsula of land between the River Thames and the River Lea in London’s East End. Fearless’ career as a DJ, founder of cult band Death in Vegas, and head of the independent label Drone have cemented Fearless’ reputation as a diverse maker and renowned digger. Expect a deep love of underground electronic music, with Fearless in the mix and the odd guest stopping by.

With a killer album out on Polaar on February 3rd, on this month’s show we have a guest mix from an artist who gravitates towards simplicity with a stripped back masterful use of repetition. I’m delighted to have Soreab closing this month’s Metal Box.

“Whilst everything around me was emotionally overwhelming, I found myself gravitating towards simplicity – towards stripped-back, repetitive structures that felt grounding. Working with audio loops helped me break free from emotional loops, and gave me a sense of space and control. I tried to use that repetition in a meaningful way. If the loop is going to repeat, let it do so with intention – let it stretch, shift, evolve. That became symbolic for me.” Soreab
