DJ Houseplants is the alias of American-Cambodian DJ, producer, and conservationist Justin Av. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest and currently based in Brooklyn, Av brings his wide-ranging experience as a musician and a fresh perspective to New York’s house scene. Very much a disciple of Chicago and Detroit electronic music, his productions and sets weave together elements of classic house and breaks, pulling you in with his signature bounce and four-to-floor hooks drenched in a nostalgic feel. Drawing inspiration from Mother Nature’s bioacoustics and his frequent retreats to the forest, DJ Houseplants envelops his listeners in lush, hypnotic and familiar soundscapes.
