APEX (Asia Pacific Exports) focuses on delivering music from the deepest corners of the globe; the Asia Pacific. Run by Chinese-New Zealander DJ, Jess Fu, APEX welcomes guest DJs from across the Asia Pacific and it’s diaspora. The show dives into all genres from all centuries; from disco to indie rock, to electronic to traditional, indigenous music.
Sigrid Yiakmis the dj is refreshing; in that she doesn’t (and doesn’t need to) speak too much about herself. Instead, she is more comfortable being understated, in the effectual work she puts in for Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland’s music scene.
Since she was a teen Sigrid has been regularly hosting on the city’s institutional radio station 95bFM, including the long-standing Thursday 1-4 Show, as well as a stint producing their events. She co-founded the preeminent Community Garden club nights in 2018 – providing artists like LSDXOXO, Eartheater, DJ Plead and Tayhana.
Moving with a fluidity earned from years of true listening, her dj sets are emotive and multifarious – always speaking to an atmosphere rather than about it.
