Karim & Mara are soulmate homies that met in their late youth and quickly discovered that Cairo and Miami culture bleed into each other in magic ways. Discoteca 3ala Mars presents explorations of musical lineages between Masr, the 305 and the broader musical traditions of the surrounding regions and cultures. The intention is to explore and enjoy sounds that shape the experiences of third culture kids outside of the places they’re from.

On this broadcast of Discoteca 3ala Mars we have been given the opportunity to air a teach-in initially hosted by the American University in Cairo as part of a series called 10 days of Architectural Fortitude.
This lecture was presented by Léopold Lambert who is the editor in chief of The Funambulist, a platform and publication that engages with the politics of space and bodies. The teach-in focuses on the use of architecture as a tool of settler-colonialism, specifically addressing the structures that uphold apartheid in occupied Palestine as well as the systems and infrastructure that facilitate the ongoing siege of Gaza.
