Wadood & Bitchimawitchh are soulmate homies that met in their late youth and quickly discovered that Cairo and Miami culture bleed into each other in magic ways. Discoteca 3ala Mars presents explorations of musical lineages between Masr, the 305 and the broader musical traditions of the surrounding regions and cultures. The intention is to explore and enjoy sounds that shape the experiences of third culture kids outside of the places they’re from.

This month we sat with Drėėėmy, aka Reem Abdou, to discuss NILE WATER, her upcoming project releasing in three parts along the equinoxes this year. What unfolded included chanellings on Afro-Arab-Futurism, relationship to Spirit, returning to ancient roots, connection with the land and how it came to be that she is recording a project with her mother.
Reem Abdou is a Native Egyptian poet, activist, sound artist, transnational community organizer, ethnomusicologist, facilitator, arts/cultural curator & mindful movement and mediation guide. By way of NYC, she is the founder of The Collective BAE, a global women’s environmental, arts and social justice movement series. Reem works at the intersection of inclusion, healing and connection.
Enjoy a mix guided by Reem featuring a preview of her first single, ALSHAMS, set to release in March 2023.
