Mr Palomar - Digi Drift

Sound Study will follow unexpected resonances, feedback, and musical migration around the world. Tune in for situated listening, original field recordings, and occasional interviews with guest DJs, artists, and scholars.

On this month’s show, Xandão and guest Héctor Beltrán talk about hacking from the South, borderlands, 90s hip-hop, lowriders, freeways, growing up in Los Angeles, Latinx formations, and his recent book, Code Work.

Héctor Beltrán is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at MIT, where he teaches “Cultures of Computing,” “Hacking from the South,” and “Latinx in the Age of Empire.” His new book, Code Work: Hacking Across the US/México Techno-Borderlands, examines the political economy of knowledge work and manifestations of hacking between the United States and México.
