On today’s edition of the show, Darone invites David Haffner. What can you say after 30 years of collecting records and DJing? David Haffner is attracted to the underplayed, underrated, and undiscovered nooks and crannies of the record world. Along the way, he’s popularized a few records and broken them on various scenes. He’s been involved in the Hip Hop, and every genre that went into that in the 90s, Deep Funk, Disco, and Rare Soul scenes.

He’s worked in music licensing for years, most notably putting out the compilation Disco With A Feeling on Athens Of The North, but also working with Jazzman, Big Crown, Light In The Attic, and his own labels the Preservation Project and Friends Of Sound.

The latter being the namesake of his record stores for the last 17 years – through which he’s sold records from the novice to the hardest of hardcore collectors of every genre and been dubbed the “tastemaker’s tastemaker” and the “record grandpa”.
