Let’s Be Friends celebrates the people who shape the dance music community. Each month, Pretty Gay Friendly brings a mix of music and conversation, highlighting DJs, promoters, and organizers who create spaces for connection and belonging.

The show focuses on sharing stories, building friendships, and recognising the people who make the dancefloor feel like home. Guided by the same warmth and floor-driven sensibility that defines his DJ sets, the aim is to foster inclusion, connection, and the joy of bringing people together.

This month on Let’s Be Friends, I am joined by Naygod, a DJ whose approach to music feels expansive, grounded, and deeply intentional. Their ability to move through sound with care and curiosity makes them a natural fit for this show, and I am excited to share space with them and explore how music connects history, movement, and community.

NAYGOD (Nay) is an eclectic DJ and scientist based in Los Angeles by way of Chicago. They are widely known for their ability to draw deep from the archives of Black music—transporting audiences through space and time. Sonically, they are inspired by their Midwestern roots, which come alive through their seamless blending of house, techno, soul, funk, R&B, and disco. Nay also hosts a monthly radio show, Soular Power, on KCHUNG Radio based at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles.

Their sets has been featured on NTS, The Lot Radio, and Dublab, further expanding their presence across global underground communities. NAYGOD has brought their sound to dance floors in Detroit, Chicago, and New York, continuing to build a sonic bridge between cities that have shaped the history and future of Black electronic music.
